I’m going to start by saying that this is a really terrible trailer. It shows very little in terms of gameplay, has crappy cuts to dialogue that is very disconnected and irrelevant to the game clips that follow, and does little to make you want to play the game.
That being said, I do like the concept of a 2D horror game that’s driven by story and carried out with a creepily adorable art style and moody atmosphere.
According to the press release:
DISTRAINT is a 2D psychological horror adventure game by Jesse Makkonen that has you step into the shoes of an ambitious young man named Price.
In order to secure a partner position within the famous company he works for, Price seizes the property of an elderly woman.
In that very moment he finds out the price of his humanity.
This is his story and the tale of his regrets…
Color me intrigued. The game is coming to Nintendo Switch & 3DS, PlayStation 4 and Vita, courtesy of Ratalaika Games, but before it does that, you can play it at the Tokyo Games Show.
No release date was given on the release, but the Game Show runs from 9/21-9/24, so you can expect it shortly after those dates.
