Despite the epic failure of Fantastic Four and the mediocre response to X-Men Apocalypse, Fox is charging ahead full steam on its Marvel properties. Let’s be honest, Deadpool was awesome! Logan was a huge success.
Next year, you’ll see three more movies, and hopefully all of them will be worth the price of admission.
New Mutants will come first on April 13, 2018.
Deadpool 2 arrives on June 1, 2018.
And X-Men: Dark Phoenix is hoping to capitalize on the holiday movie rush when it hits theaters November 2, 2018.
Out of all of these movies, I have the least hope for Dark Phoenix. Unless Fox is actually bringing in the Shi’ar Empire and the Starjammers, taking the story out into space and giving the Phoenix Force the story and origin it deserves, it won’t be a faithful adaptation. That being said, with the massive success of Guardians of the Galaxy, it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s exactly what they do. Then in 2019, we’ll get a Starjammers solo movie that will hope to ride the coattails of Groot and Rocket’s success.
