Well, yesterday the Nintendo Direct came and went, and we got some great reveals, including amiibo release dates, and a bunch more.
The big payload of the Direct, however, was in the news for the big upcoming games, ARMS and Splatoon 2.
Here’s what you missed:
The game releases June 16, 2017.
New character, Min Min, was announced. Her arms are noodles, but her left arm has a dragon on it that shoots lasers from its mouth and powers up from a noodle arm to a dragon arm, which is obviously stronger.
Also, it has been confirmed that each fighter can use two completely different ARMS during combat, each having various functions, power-ups, and elemental advantages.
More reveals are promised before the June release. Take a look at the video below.
The game launches on July 21, 2017.
The big reveal is a new play mode, called Salmon Run. From what I can tell, the game plays like a tower defense, where four players can team up to take out computer-controlled fish that crawl out from the depths of the sea to attack the inklings and surrender their eggs. The eggs are quite valuable, and while nothing specific was mentioned, Nintendo hinted that the eggs could be spent for unique and exclusive items.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Nintendo without amiibo figures. The game’s sequel will be getting three new figures, and they will be used primarily to save the outfit of your inkling, allowing you to take your character with you if you play at a friend’s house.
The amiibo will launch alongside the game. Of course, previous Splatoon amiibo will work in the game, but it wasn’t clarified if they’ll do the same thing, or something else.
