Savitar Reveal to Come As a Surprise On CW’s Flash

If you’ve been watching the current season of The Flash on the CW, you’ll know that the current Transformer big bad, Savitar, is a force to be reckoned with.  As the team races against time to prevent Savitar from murdering the series’ female lead, Iris, the team seeks to learn as much as they can about the mysterious foe.  Like who he is.

Like previous seasons, the identity of the big bad will remain a mystery to be solved until the latter few episodes.  Sure, you may have guessed the identity of season 1’s Reverse Flash ahead of time, and you may or may not have been taken by surprise with who hid under the Zoom mask, but if you think you can peg Savitar, you should think again.

TVLine recently crashed the set of the hit series and got a chance to talk with stars Danielle Panabaker and Grant Gustin (who play Caitlin Snow & Barry Allen, respectively).

“Slowly, different characters are going to learn who Savitar is,” Panabaker teased. “But I don’t know if the audience is going to be told anytime soon.”

With both previous seasons, the audience was given hints ahead of the reveal, and when the reveal did happen, the audience knew before the heroes did.  Sounds like that won’t be the case this time.

“It’s not the same as past reveals,” explained Gustin. “With Zoom and Reverse-Flash, the audience was starting to realize things before we all started to piece it together. But I don’t know how you would know this year. And when you do find out, it’s like, ‘Oh. My. God!’ There are really no secrets or hints leading up to to it.”

From what we know about the foe, a future version of The Flash trapped him in the Speed Force, which means that his identity could very well be someone we haven’t met yet.  Or is it the villainous future self of someone that may currently be a hero.  Evil Wally, perhaps?

The Flash airs Tuesday nights on the CW.  Next week’s episode, “Duet,” will be the musical cross-over episode with Supergirl that you didn’t know you’ve been missing in your life.
