When the first season of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events hit back in January, I had hoped for a family-friendly show that my wife and I could watch with the kids. Unfortunately, the dark tone and off-beat humor of the show didn’t hold the attention of my wife and son, so I finished the season on my own. Most of it I was familiar with, having seen the Jim Carrey flick several years ago, but this show was smarter, better, more in-depth. You spend time with every character, and then the last episode of the four provides a new narrative to enjoy.
Overall, I really enjoyed it, even though it wasn’t what I had hoped for. So I’m glad to hear that season 2 is on its way.

No word yet on when season 2 will debut, but the smart money puts it on January 2018.
