Well, it’s been nearly a week since the Nintendo Switch launched, and if you’re already sick of Zelda, I have good news for you. There are several new games that will show up on the eshop at some point today (they are not there at the time of this writing, but they are all scheduled to release March 9):
ACA NEOGEO THE KING OF FIGHTERS ’98 – $7.99
ACA NEOGEO METAL SLUG 3 – $7.99
ACA NEOGEO NAM-1975 – $7.99
ACA NEOGEO SHOCK TROOPERS – $7.99
ACA NEOGEO WAKU WAKU 7 – $7.99
ACA NEOGEO WORLD HEROES PERFECT – $7.99
Blaster Master Zero – $9.99
Voez – $24.99
Blaster Master is a retro-style sequel to the original game on the NES and carries with it the same energy and feel as the original. I don’t much remember the first one, as it came out a million years ago, but I remember enjoying it, as you spent much of the game rolling around in a tank, but then you could stop and get out to adventure, which was pretty revolutionary of an 8-bit game at that time.
Voez is a high-intensity rhythm game, which is exciting if you’re a fan of games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, but don’t want the hassle of those plastic instruments. This game made headlines a week or so ago for being the first Switch title that you cannot play on the TV, as it requires the touch screen 100% of the time. The only downside I see to this game is that the 100+ songs included with admission appear to all be originals, not pop music or rock, which we’ve come to expect from a rhythm game. My fingers are crossed for a demo on this, as I’m interested in the title but I’m gonna require it before ponying up the $25 simoleons (because that’s a word people still use).
Of course, if you are sick of Zelda, you must be playing it wrong, because there’s way too much stuff to get through in only a week.
