While the Nintendo Switch is now out and is a mighty fine piece of hardware with some incredible software to along with it, the system is not without its haters. After all, the Switch does not have a Netflix app or a web browser. Does it need these things? Some would say yes, and Nintendo is listening.
Reggie Fil-Aime spoke with The Washington Post and addressed some of those concerns:
We’re talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon — things that will come in time. In our view, these are not differentiators. What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform.
I agree with him on this point. I have a laptop, a Chromecast, a smart phone, tablets, and a Fire TV. I can easily watch what I want, when I want. I bought a Switch to play great games at home and on the go. Having the option to use the Switch in such way is nice, but it is certainly not a deal breaker.
