Okay, so if there’s a nostalgia war being fought right now, Sega just won. Or at least, they just dropped a nuke.
Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is an HD remaster of an original 1989 Sega game, and today, DotEmu and Lizard Cube just announced that you will be able to seamlessly flip-flop between current HD and retro 8-bit graphics and sound. Want a current look and a classic soundtrack? You can do that! You can mix and match however you’d like…but the game is so pretty, I can’t imagine playing 8-bit for too long.
Watch the video to see it in action:
If that were’t enough (and here’s where the nuke goes off) if you have any of your old passwords for the original lying around, they’re gonna work on this new version. Wherever you left off 30 years ago, you can pick right back up and continue.
The game releases this Spring for Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
