Marvel revealed today that their first lead character in the new Inhumans TV show has undergone Terrigenesis.
Iwan Rheon (of Game of Throne fame) has nabbed the role of Maximus, affectionately Maximus the Mad. The character is one of a villainous persuasion and likely the series antagonist. Maximus is brother to king Blackbolt, the series ne’er-spoken lead.
Although we’ve seen Inhumans as a focal point of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we’ve yet to see comics’ Royal Family. Until now, of course. Marvel’s press release describes the character as “a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King – although he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.”
Of Rheon, Marvel’s TV head, Jeph Loeb, had this to say:
“Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish, and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”
Rheon joins such other GoT actors as Finn Jones (Iron Fist), Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), and Peter Dinklage (in an undisclosed role in Infinity War) that have joined the MCU.
The Inhumans will debut September 2017 in IMAX theaters before coming to TV.
