Due to the huge success he had with Disney’s live-action Jungle Book movie, Jon Favreau (Iron Man) was brought on to direct another classic Disney animation: The Lion King.
Until now, news has been scarce on the project.
However, news broke late Friday afternoon that Disney has cast the two major leads: Simba and Mufasa.
In a move I certainly didn’t expect, James Earl Jones (who voiced the character in the animated film) will return to play the great king Mufasa. It’s fitting, though, because who could have really replaced him?
Joining him this time around is Donald Glover (Community, Spider-Man Homecoming) who takes up the mantle as Simba. I’m a major fan of Glover (and a major fan of Community) so this is great news. He’s a very talented actor and rapper, and he has voice over experience, as he was the voice of Miles Morales in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.
At this time, there is no release date for the movie.
