Welcome to 2017, where everybody wishes it was the 90’s again.
At least, that’s sure what it feels like. Everything retro is cool. Nintendo’s NES Classic Edition was the hottest Christmas present for nerds and couldn’t stay on the shelves anywhere.
So it should come as no surprise that more and more new games are coming out with a very vintage feel to them. Thimbleweed Park is one such game.
The game, which is being developed by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick (of Maniac Mansion fame), is a throwback adventure style game with added modern elements, like rocking voice acting.
The game will be an exclusive for the Xbox One for three months, then the PS4 will get it as well. How about Nintendo?
Gilbert spoke with GameReactor about the possibility:
“Nintendo is not particularly good at working with small developers and publishers initially, they like to go out to the big publishers and after a year they let smaller things in. We are definitely talking to Nintendo and as soon as we can do, we will port it.”
If you, like me, have never heard of it, you can check out the trailer below and the interview with Mr. Gilbert.
