In only a few short weeks, the public will have its hands on Nintendo’s newest effort, The Switch. In light of this, news about upcoming games just keeps pouring in.
Over the weekend, a FIFA event was held in Paris, and European gaming site, Gamereactor, had a quick chat with EA’s chief competitive officer, Peter Moore, who gave a candid description about the title: “Well, as we have said, we are custom-building a FIFA version for the Nintendo Switch. It will be FIFA 18, and it will obviously be later this year when FIFA 18 comes out.”
The site attempted to probe details about the “custom built” game, asking whether the version for the Switch would be on par with other next-gen systems. All Moore would say was, “What you have will be a custom built version for the Nintendo Switch from the FIFA development team in Vancouver.”
While no other EA titles have been confirmed for the system at this time, Nintendo fans should be happy to at least have some support from EA, as the Wii U didn’t have much support at all from the developer. “I look forward to seeing the Nintendo Switch,” Moore added. “We are not far away from its launch and in fact, here in Paris, I was very impressed to see FNAC stores with Nintendo Switch in the windows.”
No release date was given beyond a vague 2017, but Moore’s words that it would come out “when FIFA 18 comes out” lends one to believe this fall, as 18 is scheduled to release in September for other next-gen consoles.
