Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima talked yesterday with the Nikkei (basically the Japanese equivalent of the Dow Jones) about Nintendo’s plans for their upgraded online experience on the Switch.
It looks like the annual fee to utilize the online functions, i.e. multiplayer matches and access to the aforementioned smart-phone app to allow voice chat, will only set back players around $20-25/year. “With paid [services], we will be able to fully commit to customers,” Kimishima said.
In addition, he hinted that Virtual Reality may well become a reality on the Switch, though there is no firm plan in mind and certainly no time frame. “If we are able to resolve the issues with playing [virtual reality] comfortably for long hours, we will support it in one form or another,” he added.
