DC Taking Super Hero Girls to the Stars in Intergalactic Games

I’m going to start this off by saying, I’m really loving that companies are taking a more vested interest in marketing cool things to girls.  It’s not all just baby dolls and dress-up Barbies anymore, play kitchens, etc.  My daughter is too old now to play with toys, but when she was growing up, her thing was Monster High, and that was cool.

Now the market has shifted and girls are getting into superheroes now.  I don’t know if that changed when Marvel started making great, mostly-universally-loved superhero movies, if women just got tired of always playing the damsel, or if it has something to do with the fact that there are now little boys out there that identify more with traditionally feminine things.  Whatever the case, I’m glad the trend is in swing, and girls should feel empowered to be kick-ass, too.

Today, DC announced their second animated release in the DC Super Hero Girls line: Intergalactic Games.

In the feature, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, and gal pals at Super Hero High will square off against the rival Korugar Academy in the Intergalactic Games, which is all in good fun…until the villainous Lena Luthor steps in to stir up trouble.
